Good Beer Guide 2020 Entry.

Small bar with fierce coal burner. larger back room, with Bingo on a Monday night :-)

Two hand pulls - surprisingly Hobgoblin and Tribute. What happened to national pride?

Tribute nicely kept.

Decent enough place with three ales on and ceilidh type music in the back room if you like the sort of stuff.

Admittedly we were drawn in by "the oldest pub in Stirling" tag but this was no tourist trap. The room as you enter has a pine planked back bar with beamed ceiling and a small TV whereas the room at the back has a very unusual stone barrel vaulted ceiling with benches around the walls and a large TV. Beers were Skye's Red and IPA (the former in good condition) and ciders were Somersby and Addlestones Cloudy. Landlord seemed dour at first but wished us a nice day when we left.

Normally my pub of choice when in Stirling. Was in just before Xmas and was a bit disapointed that there was only one real ale on. That said it was very good and it wouldn't put me off going again.

Called in while in the area in May. Enjoyed our Caledonian Deuchers while chatting to the friendly barman. Has a good local pub feel about it. Found out there was a beer festival currently being held in Alloa from him and went to enjoy the ales there.
