Love the way the windows nearly shake out of their panes on a Friday and Saturday night, pints glasses usually smell too. Not the best in Hucknall.

About as welcoming as the exterior is attractive (sic).

Once again, another pub stripped of any character to make as much money for the brewery as possible.

I know why this place gets so busy though - it's a town centre pub & there's only probably another 4 places in Hucknall town centre that constitute the 'rabbit run' (especially on a Friday & Saturday night). There's no choice, really if you live in Hucknall - like it or lump it. It's that simple.

not seen any trouble in here for a few years, bouncers are better than the half moon tw@ts that seem to make the trouble much worse!, sunday is the best nite start at 7pm mind so all the daytime drinkers have gone home or passed out.

This pub is one of the better pubs in hucknall and very welcoming. The staff are very pleasent and always up for a laugh. The music is great and the djs are fantastic they are always giving the staff banta which is always a laugh. This pub is great for all ages obviously over 18s. The music is always up to date so you cant go wrong with this pub. Whenever you are up for a laugh or just want a good night out then chequers is the best place for you. service is always good and you can always get served as quick as possible and you can actually get more than one drink at last orders and you are garenteed that everyone will served at 11.

This pub gets a bad press largely due to the myth that Hucknall is a violent town. Certainly if you want a ride home in an ambulance try The Half Moon but for a less violent night out you can't go wrong with The Chequers. There's always a good atmosphere, the music and dj's are great and with the occassional live band to look out for it beats any other pub in Hucknall hands down.
They say the staff are animals? Well they don't take any crap (would you?) and at least you can get served more than once in an evening (The Pilgrim Oak take note!).
This pub really does make for a great night so don't believe all the hype and try it!!

A Bad pub in the first place made worse by the layout and attrocious customer skills department. Too many drunks and bad manners from both the staff and customers. A pub to missed at all costs. If the pub does redeem itself, it's with live entertainment. Although it's played often too loud, it's nice to hear a mix of old as well as new sounds. Becomes hectic Friday night as well as Sunday afternoon. Not to be recommended for the older generation (55+)

Occasionally features good bands. Can be violent on occasion but has the usual quota of bouncers. How did we manage without them 20 years ago?? Even Boots has a bouncer now.
