please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

It was freezing outside so when we popped into the Packhorse it was a lovely suprise.
What a cosy place with a huge roaring log fire and a great atmosphere too.
Good prices on all drinks, a very good pub in a largely forgotten village.
Loved the outside toilet area too.

9/10

I popped in last week for a very quick beer. Unfortunately, I didn't notice the Real Ale pumps and ended up with a pint of indifferent Guinness. The atmosphere was good though, with a number of locals enjoying a drink and the landlady was very friendly. I might give it another chance when I'm next in the area.

I have stayed here while on business in the area for many years, it is situated on the edge of Dartmoor in picturesque village centre with a nearby nature walk and within easy reach of many interesting sites. The Pub itself is a very old building with loads of character, a huge open log fire, great food and beer, friendly owners and staff and I always enjoy staying there. The rooms are priced at the right level for the facilities and standard, I have always slept comfortably here, and all rooms are en suite (clean facilities) and have kettle and TV. There is even live folk club type entertainment many nights when talented locals arrive to perform in the pub.

I also disagree with the comment from "ncurling", i found the the place to be very friendly, well presented, and very tidy!
The staff had a very cheerie nature, and the food was very good.
I would definatly stay at the Pack horse again.

Fantastic.
I completely disagree with the previous comment.
I found the place to be charming.
Clean, tidy rooms. Great food, great ale, and great freindly staff, who couldnt be more helpful.
An ideal weekend retreat, set in lovely surroundings.
I would definately visit again.

I booked this pub as a result of their website and pictures. When we got there I was appalled. The rooms were nothing like the pictures. The cream carpet was covered in stains, the walls were grubby and the beds collapsing - even in their refurbished room! When I explained to the owner (who has been there for just over 2 years), she was rude, aggressive despite MY continuing apologies (go figure...). We left without staying a night and paid for the full stay. Buyer beware...

Good friendly pub, very welcoming staff, excellent food and beer. Also varied programme of music (mainly live, plus occasional 70s record night), but quiet atmosphere when no events are on.

Good Ale, Great banter on Saturday night here! The food looks good but not tried it yet. A good watering hole
