Apart from our party of 8 last Friday evening, there was barely anyone else in this traditional pub which was a shame but I guess the way many pubs are going. The landlord looked after us and my gammon and chips was fine but the Pedigree was only average and the Banks's Amber Bitter just slightly better.

There has been a change of landlord since the last review, but food service can still be slow.
Its an old pub, heavily modernised but still retaining a number of different "drinking areas". Generally quiet in the evenings, unsurprisingly as its too far out of town to walk to and not far enough out to drive.
Banks's beers usually well kept so worth calling in if you are passing anyway.

Had an evening meal recently and the experience was disappointing. I ordered Hickory Chicken and then promptly waited over an hour for it to arrive. The waitress stated that it was cooked 'fresh'. When the meal arrived it was burnt to a crisp inside and I struggled to saw through it even with a steak knife. When I mentioned this to the waitress she said that they would bring me another one but that it would take a further 45 minutes. The customer service was poor, why can't staff apologise for such an obvious mistake? and then have the audacity to try and charge you for the rubbish they have served you.

In short, both the food and the service was terrible and I will look elsewhere in future.

Gorgeous gorgeous food - and great portions. It is a cosy - almost dated pub I guess but I agree with Vicky the food is fantastic!

sorry Jimbo, but we make a special trip ,all the way from N.E.Scotland,over 500 miles ,to eat at the Swan with our family when we come south to visit,we have eaten here four times now and we have always enjoyed a very tasty roast ,Sundays included .The staff are very efficient and mindful of their clients needs .So please do not let any one elses comments put you off until you have tried the Swan yourself.Vicky Childs ,Scotland .November 2004.

Banks's eating house about a mile and half from hereford city centre. Decorated in typical Banks's 90s style. Not a bad pint of mild. Overall, if passing and hungry, worth popping in to, but not worth a special trip. voted 5
