More of a restaurant than a pub and housed in a glorious mock tudor building, this is decent enough in a happy families way. The food is good barring a very odd apple parfait of a dessert and drinks are from the local Wells brewery and well kept.

The main strengths are its location overlooking the Great Ouse, with a patio drinking area and plenty of space inside. Some guest beers occasionally from Bateman's and busy, despite the cost.

In a great spot overlooking the river, so it must be a popular spot in the summer. Had a decent enough pint of Bombardier, but it's far too upmarket for me...

Visited a couple of days ago. Really outstanding food, service and atmosphere. The refurbishment is little short of incredible compared to the dowdy, tired old place this used to be. Admittedly, it is on the pricey side but since the food is so good is does represent good value. So perhaps a place for a special occasion. All the usual Wells Youngs beers on tap and well kept too. Highly recommended.

Due to reopen in March 2009 since its takeover by the small Peach pub group at the end of 2008. If the group's other pubs are anything to go by expect high quality food, a modern sophisticated interior and drinks at the upper end of acceptable pub prices. This is no bad thing considering that the only pub on the Embankment had taken a distinct turn for the worse prior to its takeover; the location of the pub and the traditional exterior deserve a high quality establishment and it is to be hoped that Peach can deliver.

Prior to closing for refurbishment we visited for a Christmas meal. The food was of a good standard and the price for a set menu Christmas meal whilst not the cheapest was very acceptable - whether those prices will stay at that level remains to be seen, but with a fussy French chef in place one can only hope. Worth keeping a close eye on as a possible rising star....

This pub has recently changed hands and the difference is noticable. The food here is excellent and there is at least a couple of ales on and they are kept in good condition. If you're going there be prepared for the fact that your wallet will get a hammering but at least you know that you will get some decent scran. Worth a visit on the first weekend of the month!!!!

This is a very posh Pub hotel.
Food was excellent, the service was outstanding, great for big parties this place.

Has Outside seating at the front, the bar has a late lience at the weekend, credit cards accepted, wide range of food served as well, in the main bar there is a TV.

Overall it was quite a good night out with the Woolworths crew. Only reason it didn't get 10 out of 10 i just thought it was a bit too hot in the restaurant.

This is more hotel than pub. Large selection of bevs at the bar though. Too many blue hairs and greasy medalion wearers...ya know, the ones over 50 who can't seem to keep their shirt buttons buttoned. There's better places over on High St.
