Made a nice change to drink something other than Greene King or Adnams in this part of the country.
Joe C's Norfolk Kiwi and Bitter Old Bustard slaked my thirst perfectly.
Not sure if taste and price would make for a session.

The Joe C's beers were very up and down, the service wasa bit too polite ,silly hotel attitude. The beer was 3.60 a pint and was the highest price in Wells equal with the Globe. As pretentious as the Royal Oak is basic.A very nice Georgian building it must be said. 6/10 NOT GBG material.

Tried the 'KIWI' beer, it tasted like my home brew, slightly too sweet, and flat, otherwise a nice pub.

The 'local' ale is apparently brewed by the owners wife in a micro brewery and was very nice. It is a hotel and i think the bar area and lounge lacks atmosphere as people tend to be waiting for tables etc and it appears to be void of locals but the beer was good and worth a visit to try a local brew.

Gastrofied to the nth degree. Used to be rambling coaching inn, now targeted at the weekend/sailing market.

Decent food, reasonable beer. Nothing to get excited about.

A nice location overlooking the Buttlands. Three ales, Adnams Bitter and Explorer and a 'Kiwi Beer' brewed especially for the Hotel, but I'm not sure who by and the Barman could not shed any light on this. Explorer was ok but nothing outstanding. Quite a nice Hotel, and a good place to eat it would seem.

stayed here over the weekend. rooms are expensive but comfortable. food is very good indeed, particularly the seafood. very relaxing atmosphere in the bar - no telly so no constant saturday afternoon reminders that united had won another bloody league title. lovely place to drink excellent real ale and chill out with the papers whilst the tourists fight outside over parking spaces around the butlands.

drank the woodforde wherry all weekend as it is too good to justify drinking anything else.

Great place to spend and afternoon reading the papers and relaxing. Food is excellent - have the BLack Slate to start - fantastic. A great crowd, mixture of locals and tourists/holiday homers. Chris the main man is a great host
