Feels and looks like a proper pub. Plenty of seating inside with a bar along the back wall. Sky Sports News playing silently on the TV with music in the background. As for the beer, three McMullen ales on tap. Ranged in price from 2.85 for the AK to 3.20 for the Country Bitter. Had a pint of the latter and tasted pretty good to me. Food smelled nice too.

Good friendly pub with a great Art Noveau exterior. well kept range of Mcmullen ales (AK is particularly good).
food is good value and tasty
The quiz on Thursdays can be intrusive if you are not taking part.
massive improvement from years ago when it was run by miserable sods.

had an OK pint the other week, 2.60 ish for AK is not bad for McMullens. The place is OK. Nothing special. Always felt it looks a reall interesting building from the outside but very dull on the inside.

Had 3 nice bottles of Stronghart here on boxing day evening. Yes - Stronghart returns and only 2.75 a 500ml bottle. Pub was fairly busy (Spurs on TV) but quite friendly and comfortable

the best landlord here was david cook and his new wife valerie. valerie had a lot to contend with in those days as she had to stand in the place of shirley daves first wife but she managed it and it was her first venture. steak nights; music; good atmosphere. in those days they ran a family pub. the glasses were always very clean, the bar was clean, the whole pub was clean. it needed a revamp in those days as it was dark but the quality of the drink was very good. the food was good too with pub grub on offer. anne in the kitchen was very good and she was such a homely figure. dave tried his best as he had been the manager here for years before with his first wife shirley. shirley also tried her best with the food side of things. the staff were always friendly and there was always a friendly atmosphere awaiting the customers here.

This is a decent pub for McMullens with a dartboard, and three plasma screens which show Sky Sports and ESPN. I thought that the barman was very friendly and my pint of Guinness was good. Unsurprisingly, a range of McMullen ales are available alongside a standard draught selection.
I thought that the choice of background music was a little depressing for a Saturday night, but this is my only real complaint.

Unbelievable, as Chris Kamara might well put it. This place has changed drastically for the better since my last visit a few years back. Popped in as part of a crawl and was tempted to abandon our original plans and just stay here instead. Where this place used to be dingy and musty, it's now bright and airy. Where once it was like a member's club that was seemingly bemused by any strangers wandering in, it is now friendly and welcoming. The environment has been much improved by some light and tasteful wallpaper, greatly improved furniture that still has some spring in the chairs, the unearthing of the fireplace and some decent carpet. They've also upgraded the TVs and put a couple more in, which makes it a good place to watch whatever happens to be on (during my visit the Eurovision Song Contest of all things). The Beer is good, all your usual McMullen's faves plus a very nice drop of Heineken and the prices are ok. They do food here too apparently, I hope to return soon to check that out as if it is of a similar standard to everything else the current owners have done, it should be terrific. Please disregard my previous review of this pub as it is now woefully out of date and inappropriate. This is now a pub to actively seek out if you find yourself in the vicinity.

friendly atmosphere, nice place for a relaxing pint after work. They have a happy hour between 6-7 mon-fri..ale is from mcmullans brewery..quality very good on my last visit

Ive been going here since the local councils failure to keep 2 of Enfields finest establishments The Arms and The Kings Head. The staff are friendly the service is really pleasing and it has a nice warm atmosphere. Choice of beers is pretty good, even includes a few decent ales for the older gentleman. Drinks are a little on the expensive side, but has not put us off. Try the quiz on a Thursday, but make sure you beat the grey haired ferret faced bloke.

i think this pub is great, friendly staff u can have a laugh with, locals nice, clean pub, nice food. beer is expensive but all the above make up 4it. would recomend a visit

Went here a few nights ago, what a difference a makeover can accomplish i am sure i saw a movie star standing at the bar as well.Bit pricey, but at least the two chicks behind the bar are hot.
|
just popped in, its been refurbed. its well cosy. they've got a wood burning stove, armchairs and sofas. the barstaff is really good, some new additions as well, service is great and with a smile. didn't notice so many locals, did notice lots of new friendly people. didn't wanna leave, but the landlady with the german accent made me to go. great night, going back, AngelsTrouble loved it. PS: they've got SKY SPORTS now!

been here a few times now, have yet to see something from the other side. Lunchtime bar wenches are very nice/attractive and more than competent in their job.
|
Great local. Good beer, good food - a little pricey but then someone got to pay to look after such a massive place. Take your own friends for a good night out as the locals prefer to keep to themselves and would rather look over there pints at you than introduce themselves.

The pub itself is old and dark looking but it is clean and the bar staff are fantastic. Went in on the way to meet friends in another pub ended up staying there. Great night, all ages mixing well. Pool table is available. I imagine its a regular sort of pub. The regulars are friendly and talking to some of them I gather that the new landlady albeit a temporary one is light years ahead of the previous one who I hear spend more moaning than smiling! As a newcomer I was not sure what to expect but the staff and punters were a great laugh only 1 problem its a McMullens pub that means pricey beer! Happy Hour between 5-8 7 days a week is a good enough reason to give this boozer a go!!!!

Went in as part of a pub crawl this weekend.
Still no lapdancers and just lots of looks of "get out of my pub right now" from the regulars.
Fair enough.
|
Good clean pub always a friendly welcome awaiting strangers.
|
Well what the hell is going on inside this pub?
Quite frankly, im guessing only the regulars know.
Unless there is some sort of alarm for non regulars entering where the lapdancers hide, the free drink signs are removed and the attentive staff are replaced with monotone speaking darleks, there's no reason why anyone, in sound mind, would drink here under their own will.
I would call this place distinctly average but in fairness to the surrounding pubs, excruciatingly bad should be the only soundbite for this pub.
Do not enter.
Ever.

With a little help from guest reviewer Yoda: "Hmmm, crap this pub is! Atmosphere, decent service, a selection of drinks the landlord seeks not these things. More like a private members club it is. The Dark Side of the force I sense here, stay away young Jedi" Strictly locals only type of pub. Old fashioned but not in a nice way. expensive in comparison to other pubs in the area and offering little to entice the passing drinker inside this is best avoided. Possibly the worst pub in Enfield, which is no small boast! Although in fairness it will have to work hard on it's all encompassing crapness to catch up with The Gun & Magpie, but it's made a promising start in this area.
