They have Green King XX mild on for may and it's good too. Another barrel about to come on next apparently. This is a rare beer of a rare style. A for effort. I think gk might have finally twigged people want something different. Hope they keep it up. £3.04 a pint be for the mild. Other beer is gk ipa but I guess that is to be expected. That said, they have brew dog punk Ipa and anchor steam beer in the fridge alongside golden hen and abbot. Bit quite for a Saturday night though

I've been here twice now. Just getting served was a task in itself both times. There seemed to be only one member of staff employed to serve drinks all night. At one stage I noticed a lull at the bar so headed up to buy a round only to find noone at all working. By the time he came back arround ten minutes later there were half a dozen people waiting and one couple gave up and left. It may be a bit cheaper than some pubs in the area but its none too cheerfull when you can't even buy a drink.

The quality of Ale has improved here as has the range. As well GK IPA and Abbot appears to be a guest ale called Tom Dick and Hardy which was a clear tasty pint and well kept. Personally I think the overall rating is a little low for this place and whilst there are far better pubs in the area there are also far worse. I would not say avoid this place, but then again I would also not say go out of your way to go here.

Dreadful. Avoid. There are good chain eating-house experiences to be had, but this isn't one of them. Food is very poor at the best of times.
Once called in for an advertised "beer festival", but had the two usual bland beers on tap and a band playing at deafening and probably dangerous levels, couldn't make ourselves heard to find out if there were other beers on elsewhere in the building or if it had started or wasn't going to start, so simply left.

Can't say I was too excited about this place. Food was fine but it is a Hungary Horse so you should know what to expect in the type and quality of the food. Supposed to serve two ales but seems to be a lottery whether you can find one of these available (never seen both on yet). Specked Hen I had last week was OK.

Absolutely Terrible. About time they changed the GM. Obviously cannot cope with an outlet this size. Chefs are very poor as they can only microwave everything, even the poached eggs are bought in plastic to microwave. talk about cut corners.
OK if you like to see the blonde receptionist doing fanny farts in the bar in the evening. Staff are just not customer focused. Disgusted with the whole thing.

so much for the refurb, started off ok but now the place always seems dirty, beer tastes off recently, food not to be desired as obviously microwaved to death, found bits of old food on cutlery which put me off straight away. staff miserable and rude. shame could be a nice little pub. only two GK ales on and even they are not well kept anymore. standards are slipping more and more. pity

A Greedy King version of Travelodge, so don't expect much, apart from the occasional Alan Partridge.
Inside is very dark and uninviting.

There was ale on (Abbott and IPA) - Abbot wasn't too bad and at least the barmaid was able to smile, so it's not all bad.

Give it a miss, far better within 10 minutes drive.

This place does a carvery on a Wednesday lunchtime with a choice of pork, lamb or beef and parsnip, cauliflower, cabbage, carrots, broccoli, and roast potato with the sauces. The meat was superlative in quality and cooking as were the vegetables. I can take or leave meat based meals but this was one not to be missed. The meal is a "come on" priced at 4.99p but even allowing for this it would do justice to many restaurants. The staff were polite and pleasant(I think from Poland or East Europe) and as an extreme Englishman I must say the better for it. I cant comment on any other meals but its worth a Wednesday visit.

Agreed. Food consistently poor & dirty glasses for drinks.
The only redeeming thing was they used to do a Quiz that made the place buzz on a Monday night. Now it's just dead
