I'll start my reviews with my local. The Admiral Mann is a rare breed of pub these days, particually in its locality. A boozer which strikes the right balance between being genuinely friendly, traditional, and yet one you could bring disearning guests too. Being owned by the brewery, they serve McMullen's ale which I like very much.

There are two bars, and the back bar does a good St. Georges Day Party, or other periodical events and much fun can be had.

Spam posting of 18/10 untrue.

Visited Admiral Mann evening of 14/8. Manager confirms venue has not sold McMullen's AK for 10 years due to lack of sales. Confirmed COUNTRY BITTER sold regularly, with a second seasonal ale from the WHOLE HOP series available most of the time.

Since last visit pub has been refurbished and is much brighter in the saloon bar, as well as being more spacious. It is good to see this pub surviving despite the odds, and well done to both management and brewery for keeping the place alive.

great local teetering on the edge of survival, used it for ages but it doesn't bode well

One of those pubs which is so tucked away (in this case, on a side road off Brecknock Road) that you wouldn't notice it had you not read about it on BITE! It's a good survival, this: a pretty unchanged local boozer which, at least on my visit, had a reasonably civilised (and not at all rough) atmosphere to it. The interior is dark, and I found it depressing (I felt similarly about McMullen's other southern outpost, the Windsor Castle at East Finchley), but good to see it surviving anyway. McMullen's Country Ale on handpump. I wouldn't return, but wish the pub well.

Called in for a quiet pint with two friends yesterday at 2130. Very quiet inside with just one person sitting in the public bar, a group of three near the bar in the lounge and my group (also of three). A fine pint of Country Bitter was on, but to our shock we were told we could not be served tankards although stocked, as we could use them as weapons. This is a pub I have visited off and on for 15 years, which made the attitude all the more surprising.

At a time when pubs are closing at a rate of five a day, you would think a pub would go the extra mile to keep whatever custom it can get. Which makes it even more perverse that two or three civilised middle-aged drinkers, drinking cask ale are classed the same as teenage yobs.

A message for the management. If this is McMullen's general policy that tankard jugs are kept in the pub but no longer used, PLEASE do not discard these. I know two or three pubs that will gladly take them off you, and of course welcome any customer wishing to simply enjoy a proper pint in traditional fashion.

Don't let this pub become another sad statistic.

Decent enough place. Traditional bar areas and friendly staff. Ale was well kept. Have to mark it as a nought though due to the revolting arse-nal flag.

I Went in here a few days ago This seems to be a very good nice old style Traditional Pub. I had a few Pints of Country in excellent condition. Surroundings good and other customers & Staff very friendly.
It Makes a change to find a nice proper Pub with good Beer on tap instead of all these foodies pubs around these days hope it don't ever change definitely 9/10 would recommend to anyone and will return again.

What could be a nice pub is ruined by the lowlife from the local estates...

Wonderful evening on 21/11/07 despite England losing against Croatia. A darts match was on in the lounge bar when we arrived.

Again, pub virtually unchanged since I last reviewed it in October 2005. The McMullens' Country Bitter remains on good form (they have not stocked AK for at least two years now).

A very relaxing pub, cosy furnishing intact and clientele of all age groups all mingled with one another.

Super beer; super staff; altogether a super local! Warm and friendly atmosphere, where locals make newcomers very welcome. Good quality beer can be enjoyed in a friendly country-like pub. Highly recommended!

Visited a couple of weeks ago with a friend from South London. Superb to see the pub is virtually unchanged apart from redecoration as necessary. Country (Macs) still in good condition, and there's a smile behind the bar. I only get to visit the pub once or twice a year these days and the welcome from one or two of the locals is still familiar.

Mainly easy/M.O.R. background music, kept at a level allowing conversation. Still 7/10. If the AK returned, that would be 10/10.

a small but friendly pub

Friendly backstreet boozer not known by many and of a dying breed. Well Kept McMullens Country. Worth seeking out for a quiet pint etc.

Lesser known McMullens pub in back street not far from Camden Town. On my last visit the public (front) bar had been made into something akin to the back lounge and the AK beer is no longer served. The Country bitter is still in good form and so is the whole of this friendly pub.

Cosy little two-bar local situated at the back of a housing estate behind Brecknock Road (Camden Road end). Behind the lounge bar is an extension which sometimes has a pool table. Dart board and tv in the public bar. McMullens Country Bitter in good form, and the locals are friendly. Don't be put off - it's really a great pub for a quiet few pints. Very cheap too!! No food - mainly crisps/nuts etc.
