Bar girl snobbish and more concerned about talking about her car to the locals. She could have at least given us a smile after charging £8.20 for two pints!!

A roadside pub and given it's slightly easier to park here than on the high street down the road, a popular one. We enjoyed pasta and a tomato & vegetable soup respectively and ales are from Fullers. Stockbridge is a pleasant town which was was probably even nicer when horses' hooves resounded.

Having looked at this pub's website, which states they serve breakfast, we stopped at around 8.00 am on the way to a days fishing.

On walking in and asking for a table we were told they only provide breakfast if you book in advance. No 'hello', no 'sorry' just a grumpy landlady who looked outraged that we had the cheek to try and use her pub.
On the way out, we stood in the in the doorway discussing where to try next and were told " Can you please leave and close the the door behind you".

I guess if you have a pub in Stockbridge people flock to your door and there is no need to be civil, nor do you need £50 worth of breakfast orders to start the day.

had a nice lunch here while passing through stockbridge. prices were quite high but the food was great. friendly staff and the garden looks like it would be a lovely place to drink in the summer.

A pretty decent place for a lunchtime visit (though only for a sandwich, not a full meal). Like most Fullers pubs, this has a good range of beers and they keep them fairly decently. I've tried most of the other pubs in Stockbridge over the years and this seems to be the best all round: not worth a special trip for, but good if you are passing. 7/10

Popped in a couple of weeks ago with out booking. Although we did enjoy the food and the beer we felt a little put out when walking in without a booking. Wasn't handled particularly well by the member of staff.
Overall though we will be going back as the food was good, beer was lovely and we both love the village.
Go for the pie!!

We had been traveling around the small villages of Hampshire and stumbled upon Stockbridge. What a beautiful village, with a trout stream running through it and several eateries. We had lunch at the White hart Inn. Our first impressions were very good, our welcome was excellent and so we were expectant of something quite special. Unfortunately the food did not meet our expectations at all. It was all a bit bland, luke warm and looked a bit re-heated to say the least. Will give another chance in summer.Beer was good, although first pint was end of barrel. Baddage

Good all round 'Fuller's' managed establishment. Not to sure what the last comments were about concerning 'loading the round by 2', it's certainly never happened to me. Real ale offerings are HSB (yum yum!!), Pride and Discovery. Cider comes courtesy of Strongbow (never seen an apple in its life then!!). Good pub that offers accommodation. Recommended.

The Bar staff load the rounds of drinks by2 if you don't watch them
and are unpleasant when you point it out

Large Fullers pub with plenty of tables. You get the feeling it is more of a family pub than a pub frequented by locals. The 4 cask ales on during our visit were London Pride, Bengal Lancer, Gales Seafarers Ale & HSB. Overall I felt the pub lacked character. But the service was friendly and the location is handy.

About once a year, when visiting friends in Dorset, we call in Stockbridge for lunch. Last year we tried the White Hart and the food was excellent. This year it was a disaster!
Pity, because its a nice pub with good beer and friendly staff

Beer was OK, staff were friendly and helpful but the food was very disappointing.

A 30 minute wait for the starters and sadly not worth the wait. According to the menu, the garlic and cheese mushrooms were meant to be served on a slice of toasted bloomer. Instead they came on factory sliced brown bread! The portion of smoked trout was miniscule. Both were very poor value for money. The stuffed potato skins were acceptable.

And so onto main courses. The ravioli was advertised as a 'special' but certainly didn't live up to the billing. 6 pieces of overcooked ravioli lacking in stuffing and, like the sauce it came in, tasting suspiciously bought in. And nothing, not even a salad to accompany it, for 7.95.

The fish pie had plenty of cheese and potato but not much fish. The gammon was big enough but difficult to finish being dry and overcooked. On the plus side the half bbq chicken was exactly that and the cajun chicken went down well.

Onto the sweets and once again the dish served failed to meet the description in the menu, although I'm not quite sure why it is so difficult to include the sauce and wafer with what was basically an icecream special.

Maybe we went on an off day or the chef's day off but we have eaten far better pub food elsewhere for a lot less money.

Much to our dismay the landlord and landlady who have been there for 6 years have now departed things will never be the same, good luck to Fullers to try and fullfill their shoes....

Good homely pub, friendly landlord and landlady, fresh cooked food, and bedrooms too, the ones in the old part are in character with the rest of the pub, beams, sloping floors yet clean too. Ideal for Winchester, Salisbury or on the way to the New Forest
