Cavernous, chain-type pub. If you're OK with that, no problem, but I prefer a more personal experience. Probably great for the families with kids who want to let them loose in the beer garden, but this pub wasn't for me. What they do, they do OK though.

We went to this pub for a rare family meal out. When we got there they had no record of our booking and the carvery that we had been assured was available ran out at 4pm.

When ordering the food, we were told we had a 45 minute wait so asked if the children could have some bread whilst we were waiting. The chap looked at us and laughed and shook his head. He told us it wouldn't make our food come any quicker and we would have to wait 45 minutes for the bread.

At this point we walked out and went to the Happy Cheese 2 minutes down the road where we were served very quickly and had a wonderful roast dinner and service with a smile.

Will never go back to this pub again.

I visited on 31st October for the first time in a few years. Although nothing much had changed, apart from more outdoor seating, the food and beer quality had improved. The ham egg and chips was very good with plenty of thick slices of ham and two eggs. The beer was also good. Always a good spot to eat and drink when camping at the nearby Forestry Commission camp site.

I had a party with many of my friends here and I have to say the night was ok. Previous visits with my family have been ok with meals being fine. However some bad points I have to say is that I know several people that work there and there about as useful as a chocolate teapot and as happy as Eeyore. And I have heard a story about children running around naked whilst people are trying to eat their food........

This pub has done NOTHING to make it asseciable for wheelchair users.. Which is illegal and it has had over a year siince the new law come into effect.. Disabled people are of equal value to any pub. They should be shown the same respect, i.e disabled toliets and a ramp to enable them to reach the restuarant.. It wouldn't cost that much and there's enough room. so the pub just obviosly dosn't care..DISABLED PEOPLE DONT GO THERE.... AS THEY DONT CARE

We've been very happy with the whole set up at this pub and will be going back there.

This potentially great pub is spoiled by the attitude of some of the staff who have a really off hand manner to customers and are very rude.

I left this pub in tears!

Bank holiday weekend : only sandwiches, staff were incredibly rude, food was awful. Nothing to recommend this place for a start would be a smile from the grumpy staff. The female duty manager was just horrid looked dirty and was indifferent about customers. We waited 45 minutes for 2 cheese sanwiches costing 12!! Dont bother

Visited this pub on the recommendation of the Hampshire Life magazine and was very disappointed. We had Pate for starter - this was the only good part of the meal, Duck with saute Potatoes - the duck was chewy and fatty, the potatoes were more like undercooked chips, also had Steak and ale pie with new potatoes and a vegetable selection - the pie was dry and looked like the whole lot had be warmed up in the oven before hand. We skipped dessert! The surroundings were pleasant, the wine was good. The service was super fast by young girls, would have prefered a longer gap between courses. Would not go here for a meal again.
