This used to be a brilliant pub when the rodens first took over but it quickly went down hill. Both are alcoholics and regularly drink while working and are more pissed than the customers. They argue with each other behind and infront of the bar and regulary fight with customers when not fighting with each other. Sharon has no people skills and will bar any1 if they say the wrong thing, especially after a bottle of jack daniels. Not to worry though,at last karma has come and kicked them up the arse. A couple of months ago during another one of their lock ins, they launched a racist attack on a customer, hitting him with a bar stool and biting him. They have now been kicked out by the brewery, good riddance!!!

Mark & Shoron who run this pub have done a cracking job. It's a really friendly pub where all the family can feel welcome. I must fess up to only drinking Coke when I went (driving) but my pops reckons that the beer was fine - and he's a fussy sort! Sunday lunch though was superb. Worth a visit!

Great pub. Foods always lovely and is at the right price. Also one of the best places around for live music. There's something for everyone here!!!

Oh dear: looks like some idiot who was asked to leave has decided to grind an axe here & told some pretty defamatory stories: I agree with Jonboy: the Rodens have made an excellent job of turning the pub around and in fact where people are disagreeable firmly asking them to leave, so it is now a family centred lively but safe pub & frankly the sort of people who are bigoted against "gypsy type blokes" whatever that might mean (and I've not even seen members of the travelling community in there) would be no loss for a good atmosphere

I couldnt disagree more with disgruntled22. I was there on the night in question the brawl he mentions was a customer who pushed another customer and was immediately asked to leave by the landlord, which he did do, end of 'BRAWL'! It was half 7 on a Friday evening and i would suggest there are better places to hold a 1 year olds birthday other than a pub. He made a big deal out of a small incident and was offered a half price meal next time he came. You would find it hard to find any pub that hasn't had some kind of incident but in the 6yrs i have drank in the grist i can count them on 1 hand. The Rodens have done a great job of a pub that 2yrs ago was struggling. It does great homemade food, live music and the best carvery in the midlands. The chances of trouble in the Grist are slim and the chances of you not enjoying yourselves there are even slimmer!

Superb pub, family run, the words cheap and good dont normally go together but it does here.
I cant fault this pub whatsoever, little bit niggled that kids have to be gone by 8 during the summer months but now back at school they are tucked in bed by that time so not a problem.
Beautifully maintained by the family with no expense spared, good looking barstaff too !!
Overall a nice relaxing pub with plenty to do and a great kids area.

A lovely Pub. Great for the family. Excellent local community pub. This is not a pub for your CAMRA carrying person though!
