Great pub from all my yesterdays. But these days I wish there was less food served here, or it was not served all day, as I find the continual 'school canteen' smell quite off-putting when I'm trying to enjoy my real ale. If you want food, go to a cafe, or a restaurant. If you want beer, go to a pub, but by all means enjoy a bag of nuts or crisps with your pint, as they don't pervade the whole atmosphere like a blanket.

Busy pub, with beer festival on my visit. Banks Sunbeam superb @ 1.99 a pint.
Food good value too.

The beer here was very good but it was one hell of walk and I expected more from a pub with a rating as high as this. A good selection of ales though.

Well worth the walk from the B&B - excellent beer, friendly locals and a warm welcome. Even got roped into taking part in the quiz, which was eccentricly run and enormous fun. We came second but the group of regulars that won shared their first prize of a gallon of beer with us...most hospitable!

More than made up for a really quite terrible football match earlier in the day.

I liked this pub as it had a welcoming feel to it, and the 8 handpumps all had ale on, and it was good ale.

A very good local pub, with a very good range of real ales, wines and bottled beers and cider, The pub has a very good atmosphere with real fires in the winter which makes it a really cozy place to eat from there extensive pub food menu, and a good outside patio area fro eating in the summer, highly recomened, good attentive staff could not fault it

Started to visit this pub again recently & found to be back to it's "glory" days. 7 well kept ales from all over the place. Only a small amount of half pint glasses in stock - not catering for tickers as yet!
Pleasant outdoor drinking area.Small (ish) cosy rooms within the pub.
Decent pub for pre football drinks.
Food looks good value - though not tried.

Great pub, in here with Saints before the game at the weekend. 8 real ales: Bass, Bombardier, Thwaites Original, Cairngorm Trade Winds, Copper Dragon Scotts 1816, Daleside Old Legover, St Austell Tinners and Shepherd Neame Canterbury Jack. 2 main rooms off a bar area, decent cheap pub grub and a friendly welcome.

Excellent.

Great - an ancient inn with individual rooms complete with bells to push for service. But the bells don't work any more. The bar is in the main room only. Plenty of atmosphere and character. Relaxed and friendly. Guest beers served in good condition. It has a reputation as the most interesting pub in Blackpool, and is a required stop if in the area.

Not one of the best, THE BEST real ale pub in Blackpool Town. The only competition is the Shovels, (equally good), which is a few miles to the South on the way to St. Annes.

One of the best real ale pubs in Blackpool (and lets face it - there ain't much competition!). Also Blackpool's oldest, so for a change, there's a feeling of history in the pub, despite the best efforts of various owners to ruin the place (e.g. beautiful stained glass windows replaced with B&Q bargain specials). Great selection of changing cask ales, and now it has a keen young landlord at the helm, it's going from strength to strength. No smoking room is v. popular.
