Went in Friday lunchtime and it was completely dead, resulting in zero atmosphere. Shame, because the Spitfire was in superb form.

Nice little boozer, only a few minutes from the overpriced hubbub of Upper Street. Table skittles, Philosophy nights, jazz nights etc... Terrific!

A friendly, civilised pub that bucks the trend: no blaring music and shouted conversations; no surly, indifferent staff; beer and food that tastes damn good; and no rip-off prices. How many pubs have copies of The Elegant Universe and The Tools of Philosophy scattered around its browsing shelves? Theres Private Eye in the magazine rack and a collection of unusual indoor/board games. The Pub Philosophy talks-discussions on the 1st and 3rd Monday of each month are a delight, as is the clarinet/guitar jazz duo on Friday evenings.

This is a place for beer, food & conversation and a great spot for a leisurely lunch.

Beautiful, comfortable, traditional pub with a friendly manager. Extremely relaxing place to spend the evening - sofas, leather armchairs and a good selection of board games and books. Unfortunately, the ale had a slightly mouldy taste on my first visit, but I'll definitely give this pub a second chance.

Went to the Prince Albert for birthday drinks on Sunday, and it was a resounding hit with everyone. Friendly service, lovely food and enough philosophy books to keep us occupied for hours. If you like to drink beer and fancy a bite you can't find a better boozer - especially in this part of town! Our only complaint was the roasts running out so quickly!

A fine local pub. The food is really good and the owner/manager is really friendly and helpful. The beer is excellant and there is sufficient variety to keep things interesting. This is an undiscovered wonder. If there is a negative, it is that it is a little quiet at times, not enough customers, which is unusual for an Islington pub. Enjoy it now before everyone else finds it. I also drink in the Island Queen and the Prince of Wales, but prefer the Albert.

Fine traditional local, but the colour scheme is rather offputting - the traditional brown bar back is splendid, but the turqouisely colour of the walls and the lower part of the bar looks dreadful.
In fairness, the pint of Arundel beer that I had on Sunday lunchtime ( 20th ) was marvellous

I'm loathed to comment on this splendid little boozer but I suppose its discovery is at hand anyway. A great addition to the N1 pub canon. Really good beer, comfortable and friendly. Will soon be colonised by all those people who are tired of the crowds now packing into the Island Queen. If you like good pubs, you won't be disappointed in the Prince Albert.

Nice, good looking pub.

Good beer, friendly staff, nice armchairs, fantastic board games and some classic 60s tunes being played too.

Its near Angel tube too so its just a shame its not got many punters yet. Go try it before everyone else discovers it!

Great find.....
Newly restored..Clean.... Relaxed ambiance... Friendly...Landlord Perfect....the barman made my wife a cup of coffee and I just had a half of real ale and he only charged me 1.25. How many places would give you a coffee on the house and this being just a first visit. Only called in for a quick half. Lots of interesting reading matter and games...Quite a find this one Little Gem........Mitch

Visited this pub the other week having found it on this website. It was quiet but won't be for long cos it's really promising. Really had just opened and I ended up having a slightly drunken discussion with the landlord about how other punters had been in saying the pub had been recommended on the web. Don't think it's been open more than 6 weeks or so. They have a great indian board game that you play with talcum powder all over the board. This could develope into a great place.
