Had a meal there yesterday.
Might just as well have thrown my money in the air.
Awful.

All those "Aim for excellence" posters for the staff to aspire to?

Maybe some decent food would be a start.

I have used this pub since it was built, long before it was the Grandstand and a Hungry Horse. ( In those days to call it rough would have been an understatement). Today its a Green King Hungry Horse with all types of diners and a core of civiilised locals in the bar /poolroom. Recently redecorated and the food has improved. I have never found the staff dull.I was cocerned that on my last visit no real ale was available ( normaly IPA and Abbot.
Obviously not to Unlucky_Kentucky95 taste so he/she really should stay at Watercress Harrys or what ever they call that teeny spot these days..
No rating given as I have previously revued /rated this pub.

When The Grandstand first came to Hereford the pub offered excellent cheap meals. Now is a different story. The meals are disgusting and the service is just ridiculous. Always have chavvy families in there with noisy brats running around, slow, dull bar staff and tacky meals. Do NOT eat here, its awful.

Things are looking up at this pub. New staff are polite and on the ball. Customers actually made good comments about the food. Just Abbot and IPA on hand pumps. Feels more like a locol at the bar end. Hope the new boss can keep this up.

Visited early Sunday evening. The manager appears to have got a grip on things and it looks well run with pleasant staff Only Abbot and GK IPA as ales. The custom base is more your diner than loads of children...unless you know different.

Went there this 5pm this evening and it was a joke,
No Burgers, Lasagna, Mixed Grill, Sausages, Chilli, after waiting and hour they tell us no kids nuggets, my meal was cold and still came back as the same plate with new meat but cold chips and scampi, my friends meal with us took 1 hour 20 mins, manager would not come out but sent waitress to ask waht we wanted them to do ?????? Its a joke avaoid at all costs..

Just had a complete makeover, gone is the crazy decor ,now looks like a cubist wine bar. IPA and Abbot Ale on hand pumps but mostly super chilled lager. Half the menu not available due to a malfunction but I have learned not to eat at this Hungry Horse.

We went to the grandstand mid week and they had no chips no wedges so when they finally had something that i wanted in stock which was a fishfinger sandwich it came in white instead of brown and cap it all off my wife's medium steak was more than well done. We will not return any time soon because when I expressed my comments to the barmaid her response was to shrug. Extremely disappointed.

Not bad, not bad, went in here for lunch last friday and decided to have the ultimate sizzler. Asked for no peppers, no tomato, no onions. Ended up with a tomato and some onions. The steak was slightly overdone, but the rest of it was really nice. We also had one of those candymania things, hell dont they take some eating! Overall 7/10

Well, this pub as part of the hungry horse chain seems to pride itself on its quality food! when it first opened as the grandstand the food was pretty good, but recent visits have culminated in one of the worst meals i have ever had.The staff are not really friendly either. oh please bring back the happy days of the west brom fan landlord(dave i think) when it was a decent pub with a lot of friendly bar staff and customers. if i want a microwave meal il go to asda and have a better nosh up.this pub would have a 9/10 in the early 90s

I disagree with the comments below - while the pub its self is ok the food is dire. Cheap yes but why? Simple they just load your plate with far too many soggy tasteless chips. I've been a few times and each time its got progressively worse so have stopped going. A shame really as the first visit I'd have rated it as excellent.

A good pub, not tried the food but hear decent reports of it being good value. Small-ish bar gets quite busy in evenings, especialy when showing football. Friendly locals, nice place to drop in for a quick pint

As good as cheap family pubs go yet staff are very unfriendly and do not want to be there. nice layout and decor, and good area for children to play in so you can get some peace and quiet. With the food its like the girl with a curl right in the middle of her forehead, when its good, its very very good, but whens its bad its horrid!

One of the better pubs around. Gets very busy in the evenings especially for food.

As the name suggests this pub is opposite Hereford Racecouse. A typical, large 1990s food pub, it is now part of the Hungry Horse chain (You know, bland food, large plates, lots of peas and chips and not much else. As well as the non-smoking food side, the pub has a decent sized bar with a pool table nd plasma TVs showing music vids or sport.
Greene King beers of about average quality.
All inall, not one to write home about.
