please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

I can understand some of the critisism about the 002 (as it will always be remembered for me) the fact is YES it was and probably still is a S+++thole but i first went there just after it was built i was a kid (baby even) my old man drank there,i started going myself in 1984 and i only have great memories of good nights out, Day Trips down to Weymouth, Torquay or Paignton, it was real Carry On style, that in my opinion (SADLY) doesn't exist anymore because of all the trendy wine bars and political correctness about drinking, who can forget Les and Jenny or even Grumpy Jack, the Dads Army Wannabee! God Bless Mark Hawkins.

I have lived in the area near this pub and was scared to go in! it looks very rough from the outside, however when i finnaly plucked up the courage to enter this daunting establishment, my fears were soon erased by friendly and cheery staff. I was worried about bumping in to any of the locals in case I got punched cause of my northern accent but soon found them to be very welcoming.

The beer is good but could do with some real ales and a beer festival would be a great idea!

A kids area is present but the balls have been taken away! if you have kids, you have to sit in this area and it is very bland. Some paint and some cheap kids activity would be great if you are to enjoy a beer with your kids in presence.

Outside area is very pleasant when the Sun is out.

Not a local to this pub but have no issues returning!

Not a pub of choice. Clean and reasonable by day and probably reasonable by night - but I would not try it. Modern but depressed area.

Went on a Sunday, Access Sunday and Chav hell. not to my liking. Big building, could offer lots more, but tainted by location.

Used to be pretty grotty - due mostly to the clientele. Situated in a rather run-down looking shopping precinct [doesn't that word conjure up images of chavdom, 27 year-old Grandmothers, existence on the Social, etc?], the Abbotswood Inn doesn't exude class. The two individuals outside when I passed made be feel I'd be better off trying to drink in Iran: IQ looked as if it was at least up with their boot size!
Perhaps the Abbotswood is better now - but its neighbours don't help!
