user reviews of the Plough, Leatherhead

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

Located on the busy Plough roundabout about 1/2 mile from the main town. It has 2 bars , a front saloon and a rear lounge which also houses a Thia Restaurant. It has a front patio area and a garden at the rear. The park is a fair size but is an awkward shape. The front saloon is dominated by the bar and has bare floorboards and limited tables and chairs which are fairly basic. On the righthand side is a pool table and the left has a dartboard. It had 3 fairly standard real ales on the bar which were reasonably priced. It has a friendly atmosphere.

Superb pub, the new manager has certainly turned this place around in the last year. Amazing Thai food, great beer & wine and the refurbished garden and changes inside look excellent. Really well done. It's nice to have a really decent local to go to and this place certainly is.

Really nice pub, always friendly and very welcoming. Me and my other half often visit the Plough for great Thai food and a pint or two. We've also noticed quite a few changes over the past few months which have all been very good.
Definitely worth while visiting The Plough.

Pride and Youngs Ordinary but not obvious from the public bar at the front as the handpumps are in the lounge. Public bar has dartboard and pool table. Separate lounge. Pride was just ok.

I went to visit this pub with my wife and was sadly disappointed.
The drink was off, and way overpriced. At over 3.50 a pint i would expect the drink to be atleast half decent. The pub was extemely cold and so were the toilets! The only thing slightly decent about this pub was the decor.
Will not be visiting again.

good food here but a little pricier than bangkok its a strange little pub it always appears smaller than it actually is especially when milky is wandering about nice old fella though worth a look

The Thai food is brilliant and the service exemplary though having to get up to the bar to buy your drinks is a bit odd, something I guess to do with the licence / financial split but a bit odd. Nice enough as a pub (saloon / back bar) but don't know much about the front area / bar which seems to be more of a locals area. I'd go there again but not that often bar prices are steep specially for a pub on a roundabout backing onto an industrial site and railway and not the roaming plains of Yellow Stone Park with herds of wild Bison to view only a grubby car park on a good day.

The thai food is excellent, top quality. Nice atmosphere, friendly staff and very clean. Don't understand what people don't like about it...

I like this pub for pub lunches in the garden seating during the summer. Seating inside seems a bit dark and dreary. I wouldn't say this is a 'locals' pub, more of a place for pub lunches for nearby workers or families.

Food tends to take a while to come during lunchtimes (even when the place isn't super busy). The menu is pretty good - good choices of sandwiches, pastas, and other traditional pub food.

I wouldn't say the prices were ridiculous, however they are higher than those in nearby Leatherhead.

It's a bit far out from the town centres and nearby offices, but I prefer it to those in Leatherhead for a pub lunch.

3.00 for a pint of Stella is ridiculous in this very average pub. There is NOTHING about this pub that justifies this sort of ludicrous pricing; this isn't Covent Garden, so why the Covent Garden prices?????? Rubbish.

Forget the other reviews, this place is crap. Quite a walk from the town centre, scruffy and full of smoke. TV screens are hopeless, wouldn't touch the food and 3.00 for a Guinness?? Maybe the dining bit at the back is better but who wants to eat in a library?
bone_idol - 20 Mar 2006 23:53
They seem to keep the pub very clean! I like to pop in before my 'other job' for a quick pint but carling extra cold at 2.90 a pint is very steep. It's also good if you want to buy a latest release D.V.D off the chinese bloke (they're always Chinese for some reason).Camera's in the men's toilets!..is that legal?

I haven't been in the front part of this pub but only in the dining part at the back but the food is great.
Thai food by Thai people. The price is very resonable too. Give it a go.

The best pub in leatherhead! Good beer - fairly priced, pub allways clean, staff allways smart and harry allways barking (the pub dog- dont worry he doesnt bite!!) Fair landlord and manager.
The thai restuarant is a must, only not open on Sundays- takeaway service available to.
If u are passing by the M25 it is a must you pop in for a half!
Good work!}}}}

Best looking barmaids in Surrey!!!

Good food and beer, all be it the most expensive beer in town. The new chairs also make an interesting noise when used.

The Plough is a friendly, relaxed and pleasant pub, espeacially the lounge bar. It has maintained the traditional 'public' and 'lounge' bar set up which works really well since there are some real 'characters' in the public bar most nights (rather than turing up shit, Gabrielle, you arrogant arse)! It has a really great atmosphere, the staff are really charming and efficent and the pub is kept very well.
Harry the pub dog is lovely too, espeacially after a packet of pork scratchings!

great pub with great staff & customers. The landlord and staff all very friendly and welcoming.
Well done ! ! ! !

Brilliant Thai food, but be prepared to wait
Hairy Dog - 10 Feb 2004 19:25
Now this is what I call a pub!
Brilliant Thai setup in the lounge, really nice staff and tennant / owner?
The beer is kept pristine and as far as I am concerned the best boozer for miles around.

Funny really, this place being called the 'Plough'. This place too seems to turn up sh*t from all over the place. I was ignored by pretty much all the bar staff apart from the dog who said he was off duty and to p*ss off. Beer's alright though.
Gabrielle - 4 Jul 2003 14:26
Nice for a pint and game of pool.
Gerald - 2 Jul 2003 12:32
I thought this was an Eastend Pub that had simply lost its way - I swear I heard one of the punters say "Not On My Manner"!
Matt Le Ross - 26 Jun 2003 10:18
Nice pub, I like this place, not very livley but a good pub all the same. Worth going just to cop a look at that bar maid!

An excellent pub to visit, Good atmosphere and friendly bar staff who make you feel very welcome. This pub also has an excellent Thai Restaurant, which is Highly recommended and well known for its good food. This pub also has a pool table, darts and big screen TV. There are also beer gardens to the front and rear, separate public bar and lounge bar. Good selection of beers bitters and wines. This pub also has several awards for Innovation of the year and Mole Valley in Bloom 3 years running.
The Plough is overall a great place to meet, eat, and socialise.
So in case you havent guessed I rate this pub 10/10 Well done the Plough.

A completely unconcealed CCTV camera points directly towards the urinals in the gents here. It is just above the paper towel dispenser, which has a sticker on it saying "Warning: concealed CCTV cameras are in operation".
