please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

The Bull in the Barne was a fair walk uphill out of the town centre and not necessarily worth the effort. Three Salopian beers were on - Shropshire Gold, Golden Thread & Oracle. The landlord seemed a bit peturbed that we had ordered halves. With a better beer range, we may have ordered pints. Inside, music was being played fairly loud despite the lack of customers. The best thing about the pub was the outdoor patio, where you get some lovely views over the Severn valley.

This pub had very good beer - we had an excellent Salopian 'Darwins Origin' and a very good Three Tuns 'Pale Ale', also available at the time was Salopian 'Oracle' and 'Golden Thread'. The pub seems to have been given a bit of a 'sports bar' makeover with sporting memorabilia on the walls, a large screen tv, quite smart looking but feels a bit cold as most of the walls are white and the lighting is a bit on the bright side. We didn't think the makeover had quite worked as intended. Sadly it was also a bit quiet for a Friday night so the atmosphere was a bit lacking, but the bar staff were very friendly and we'd definitely visit again.

After our visit - (see previous report below) - I was informed 2 weeks ago by the Salopian Brewery that the 'Bull in the Barne' has since CLOSED !

For how long is another matter ?

Cheers ...

Called in here for the very first time on Saturday 29th January.

Well worth the (short) walk out of town.

The 3 Salopian Beers on were in top condition, and the lovely landlady ('Tunni') made us feel most welcome and had a laugh and a joke with us.

Excellent pub, and we will definitely call in here again !

Nice locals pub not far from Shrewsbury town centre, which is also the Salopian brewery tap house.

cracking local with one of the best beer gardens in the area. It is the tap house for the local Salopian brewery and has five hand pumps, usually serving three Salopian brews and two guests. Great pub.

This place was bouncing last night. Red Scouse vs Real Madrid on the telly, plus it was dominoes night. A proper local, I suspect I was the only person in that wasn't from the immediate area. Very friendly though. Has four handpumps but only three were on. I don't know if this is actually a Salopian pub but the beers were Salopian Shropshire Gold, Golden Thread and Oracle. Had a pint of the Oracle which was excellent. It's a nice looking pub in the middle of a terrace, but it was so busy that it was difficult to see much of the inside. I'll have to come back and check it out again. What a chore, having to go back to a good pub with great beer. Oh well, someone has to do it.

Good local pub, decent selection of real ales - usually at least 4.

Doesn't get busy until after 9pm.
