Earl of Chatham, Lostwithiel

We stayed at the Earl of Chatham for a long weekend - Friday 16th to Monday 19th October 09. The pub changed hands about 3 weeks ago and is now being run by mother and daughter team Jackie and Katie. The accommodation was spotlessly clean and very comfortable. We ate in the restaurant each night and found the menu to be the usual "pub grub" but nicely cooked, well presented and served in a friendly but unobtrusive way. The ingredients were locally produced and delicious. We can particularly recommend the steak and ale pie and the turkey and ham pie. The new landladies and the locals that we met in the bar were very friendly. We will definitely stay here again and would recommend it to anyone thinking of visiting the area. The Eden Project, Lost Gardens of Heligan, Fowey and St Austell are all within easy reach.
