The Three Pilchards, Polperro

Went in for a cheeky beer one wed afternoon while visiting Polperro! Was extremely happy with the choice of beers, and cider!! The ambience of the pub was lovely, very friendly locals and greeted with a smile by the bar staff. After looking at the menu, we decided a quick trip back to the car park to put some more money in so we could eat at the Pilchard, as the menu looked marvellous! I had a mountain of whitebait for starters and a surf and turf for mains which consisted of a 12oz steak (cooked to perfection), scollops, prawns (two types), mushrooms, peas, and proper chips! My wife had Brie wedges, and Local scollops and prawns in a lime and ginger sauce! Friends had brocolli and stilton soup, and a huge homemade cottage pie with big chunks of steak inside, and a creamy cheese topping! And finally scollop starter, followed by the pilchard seafood platter.........a behemoth of the platter world consisting of smoked and peppered mackeral, gambe and tiger prawns, crab, mussels, squid, and a crisp salad!!! Good job they didnt do puddings as there was no room left!!! Can honestly say that this meal was one of the best I/we've had. Best tasting, big portions, great value, in a great oldie worldie pub!!! If yuo ever get the chance to visit Polperro.........Eat and drink in this wonderful pub!!!
