Lobster, Sheringham

Had Sat evening meal there in the saloon bar. Log fire, civilized banter & authentic atmosphere, lovely beer (Wherry, Taylors Landlord), nice food promptly served. My beef & ale stew could have been bigger, but that was the only criticism. Pub has a nice maritime feel without being too full of captain pugwash type tat.

The Woolpack, Wisbech

It was deserted on a Friday lunchtime. Doors were open letting in icy fenland winds / tumbleweeds as people marched in and out with rubbish sacks. The blackboards proclaimed fine grub, so we persevered despite the air of dated coach-party-annexe dereliction.
We only found out that just sandwiches were being served after ordering beer (my half of Wherry was fine). 25 minute wait for ciabbatas which were obviously cooked in a rush from the freezer. Greasy Tesco value bacon. Grubby mats. Bored lacklustre service. Suppose we caught it on a bad day.
