Farmers Arms, Muker

This pub was a regular haunt for a week whilst on holiday and the welcome, food and drink was all excellent. The pub is warm and cosy and offers bar meals both lunch and evening whilst also welcoming dogs (under control). This is the best pub in the area and outshines the Kings Head in Gunnerside.

The Punch Bowl Inn, Swaledale

Visited the pub for a meal in november 2007. The welcome was uninviting and the room was very cold although the fire was lit. The decor is very nice, exceptionally clean and modern but the pub is not a typical walkers or dales pub and dogs are not allowed. This is a place for more of a special occasion and both the food and drink are very good. The limited menu choice is upmarket including swordfish, chicken and locally aged steak with a pleasant range of vegetables and potatoes. The presentation of the food is also good. Three courses are recommended if you are hungry with both the starters and desserts very nice. �20 per person is an average price for a three course meal.
