The George and Dragon, West Haddlesey

I feel compelled to comment on this site mainly due to the quite obviously mischievous and unfounded reviews which have been posted. I have lived in this village for two years and I use this pub EVERY day. By any measure, I am better qualified to comment than either those who have been excluded for more than three years or the one-off trippers expecting some Yokel themed country pub. The pub is busy more nights than most others I have been in around here, with people coming and going all day from opening time to early next morning, using this pub as it is meant to be used. The beer is always exceptional and has numerous CAMRA awards recognising this, there are regular trips off and charity events, recently raising a considerable sum for a children's hospice and of course the legendary beer festivals. There can be few events which generate a continuous stream of customers trudging past my window on the mile hike from the nearest bus stop! Thankfully, I understand the Landlord intends to remain for the next 18 years - long may it continue!
