The Cherry Tree Inn, Ticehurst

The sign outside suggested new ownership and a promise of good food, but the reality could not have been further from the truth. Though clean and fresh inside and a pleasant bar area with a welcoming barmaid, the beer was limited and the menu stunningly unimaginative. In fact I have seen more choice in Burger King. The menu consisted of 3 choices of starter - pate, soup or prawn cocktail. Even more unimaginative was the main course - sausages, burgers or scampi - the roast was 'off'. No fresh food, no vegetables and so you would think that processed food could be served quickly, but an hour later, still nothing. Apparantly it was so busy the limited staff could not cope (perhaps the microwave was too small). Why on earth people would choose to book to eat here was beyond me. It would be kind to call it disappointing, a more honest description is appalling. Avoid it.
