The Fleece Inn, Holme

Ive been frequenting the Fleece for over twenty years and at lunchtime and in the early evening, its probably true to say that its geared towards dining rather than drinking. After 9pm however, it reverts to being a comfortable village pub frequented both by locals and others from the surrounding area. Youve only got to try the quiz night each Thursday to see that. The beer is by no means the cheapest in the area (you can easily find it for 50-60p a pint less) but what the Fleece does offer are guests such as Hook Norton and Brains which are not usually available locally. I for one am willing to occasionally pay that little bit more to try something different but whatever you choose, you can guarantee that it will be in excellent condition.

A last word on the food. The fact that a relatively remote pub is so well patronised speaks volumes both about the quality and more importantly the value of whats on offer. Three of us ate at the Fleece a couple of weeks ago, arriving at 7.30 and leaving after eleven, and the total bill for all three of us for food and drink for the whole evening was a shade over forty quid. Highly recommended!
