The Abbey Inn, Newlay

This was once a lovely village pub but has been spoiled in the last year or two through leaning too far towards the music scene - casual visitors are likely to be put off by live bands playing at conversation-killing volumes most Friday and Saturday nights. A quiet Sunday afternoon pint will equally be spoiled as the place tends to get overrun with families and children out for the food.

This is a real shame as the Abbey does serve a great pint - it's just a shame the place doesn't make more of its potential.
