The Wentworth Arms, Mile End

A little gem of a boozer. I first stumbled accross "The Wentworth" after being forced to disembark my central line train by a rather over-zealous "passenger assistant" at Mile End station, apparantly a mans false arm had fallen onto the track (im pleased to report that he wasn't attached to it at the time).

On entering, the pub (situated only a minutes walk from the station) the first thing you notice is how small it is, but dont let this put you off as if anything it adds to the character of the pub.

Served a lovely pint of Guinness by friendly and knowledgeable staff going out there way to enquire after the day you have had without being intrusive.

A handfull of regulars perched up at the bar all with stories to tell only adds to the ambience of the pub. You feel as though you have stepped back into a bygone age when pubs were seen as the centre of the community, such establishments are becoming increasinglky hard to find, especially in London.

If Hogsheads or All Bar One's are places you enjoy frequenting, this is NOT the pub for you.

However, if you enjoy good banter, friendly regulars and staff and a good pint, I would recommend a visit without hesitation before the developers move in and build luxury flats on top of it all in the name of "progress"!
