Profile information

Beer fanatic, work in City of London and live rural Essex. Often cycle around pubs in Essex/ Herts to find one's worth revisiting - my standards are high, must have good kept real ale. good atmosphere, welcoming to newcomers and food as advertised, if it's pub grub, that's one thing, but fancy menus that fail to deliver on style and quality don't get a mention .... so all those pubs that try and be gastro joints but don't have a decent chef be warned, but all those cooks who labour away making good wholesome pub food, do good beer and you're in my book

Stag, Marden Ash

Good traditional pub with reasonable food ( restaurant planned for future) McMullen beers in good condition and friendly bar staff. Warning, not kid friendly unless you can sit outside

The Mole Trap, Stapleford Tawney

Good Ales, often from microbreweries plus Fullers London Pride as a regular. Always has 3 or 4 real ales plus other drinks, inc a wide range of soft options, Food is all cooked on premises and is good old fashioned pub grub. Worth the effort in finding it !
