Victoria Inn, Salcombe

My wife and I first visited the Victoria Inn on our very first trip to Salcombe during Autumn last year. It was a cold, windy day, but that was soon forgotten once we were inside. It was a real gem of a pub, with a lovely warm, cosy atmosphere, aided by a roaring log fire. The staff and clientele were friendly, the real ales kept to perfection and the food was superb. We have returned several times since and have never been disappointed. We were there recently during a Spring break. The place was packed, but we found ourselves a corner for lunch. The beer battered cod is just brilliant. And apparently they use a lot of local produce in their menu. The landlord's a real gent and the landlady is bubbly and good fun. Found out on this trip that they'd only been there a week when we first visited, and the place was half dead. Well, they've definitely given it the kiss of life. I ran a pub for three years, and whatever they're doing, they're doing it right!
