The Farmers Glory Inn, Haslingden

Well where do i begin???
We decided in 2009 that we would take the stress out of Christmas Day by going out for our Christmas lunch. We chose our venue carefully by price, location and the food. My in laws visited the restaurant prior and had a meal to try it out and enjoyed it so we booked the Farmers Glory for the big day. (nb. there was nobody in when they had the meal just them)
Terri sold the day to them. Log burning fire, bucks fizz and canapes on arrival, spectacular decorations, a home from home. What more could you wish for?
We arrived at 12.30pm for our bucks fizz reception to be seated right away at our table in the conservatory. The restaurant was full to bursting with then happy Christmas day customers. The heating was broken and substitute heaters were dotted around. Our bucks fizz was brought to the table and you could "grab" a canape from a fleeting waitress as she went by with a tray. The clock was ticking. 1pm, our first course was due to arrive. Everything was pre ordered before the day so hopefully the food should come out quickly and we would be back home by 3.30pm with our feet up enjoying the rest of our day. Eventually our starters arrived. One was wrong but when told about this we were told that that was what we had ordered? Surely a quick swap wouldnt have caused too much trouble.
This was a 6 course lunch and was pre ordered. Basically it was 1 hour per course. After nearly 3 hours sat in a cold conservatory our Turkey dinner arrived. Well it wasnt worth waiting for! Piled up like a school dinner was all the vegetables, which were cold and hard, turkey swimming under cold gravy, raw sausages and red cabbage topped with cranberry sauce on top. Disgusting. Not how i would serve my Christmas dinner and i am an ammature home cook.
By this time we had had enough. We had been there far too long and there was still 3 more courses to arrive. We asked for the bill. Full price it said! So we queried this with the owner Terri and the head chef who i presume is her partner. They were raging that we had the cheek to complain about there establishment. No apology just disgust that we hadnt enjoyed there efforts. After telling us to just get in our cars and leave and swearing at us at the bar we walked out halfway through our Christmas meal.
We were all extremely upset and disapointed and it ruined our day. We had gone there to relax and it was the most stressful day we had ever had.
Now since Christmas day i believe business hasnt been good and now they are closing down! Others walked out on the day aswell. Shouting and swearing was heard coming from the kitchen and the waiting on staff were left in tears. No wonder. If they ever read this i hope they feel bad for spoiling our day and will admit to themselves that they let us all down that day.
Never again will i go out on Christmas day and i hope whoever takes over the pub does a much better job than they did in the future.
