The Rose and Crown, Shilton

Wonderfully located in a quiet village of Shilton, with stone walls inside and open fire, which I can imagine looks lovely when lit in the winter.
This is nice pub to have a pint or two in with bunch of happy locals.
They have a choice of three real ales, well kept as they tasted great.
However when it came to food, the fact that chef in shabby outfit was hanging behind the bar drinking pint after a pint worried us a bit.
Meals were brought by a loud, struggling with plates waitress wearing flip flops and tank top showing off her armpits, and nearly sweeping our table with her hair.
Portions were generous, food tasty (fish pie and lamb) which comforted us, even if the microwave sound could be heard from the kitchen very often.
Cheesecake, dried out and rubbery put me in bad mood again, however sticky toffee pudding was tip-top.
Overall experience: great pub for drinking, ideal stop over between Carterton and Burford, eating there not recommended as it's too pricey and gratuities are expected as Christmas, not leaving the tips is loudly commented by blond beauty.
