The Ranelagh, Bounds Green

I used to go and sit outside at this pub as it has a garden and we could sit quietly with our dog (a pedigree Afghan Hound, not some unruly chav mutt) and have a pint after work. I've been doing that for over 11 years. The pub was grotty and the beer was rubbish but at least they weren't trying to pretend to be something they're not. Now we can't go because they've trendified it up (not in itself always bad, but then again have you seen the Maid of Muswell recently - urgh!)and now they won't let dogs in the garden. Of course, they'll let vile "Crouch End" wannabee mothers and their even more vile offspring run riot but not a civilised 30-something media lawyer and her partner and her dog. I'm not some old stuck-in-the-mud but what I really detest is this homogenisation of all pubs into places that the magic "25-30" year old Nathan Barley's want to go to.
Says it all really doesn't it - this is Bounds Green, not Crouch End, however much some people would like to think it may be.
