Totally agree with the previous comments. The bar itself gone from having some character (if not to my taste) to being boring to the point of being insipid.

And the staff do over the last couple of years seem to have plumbed the depths of disinterest. Not particularly slow or inefficient, but just not caring a damn. No smiles, no eye contact, no acknowledgement of your existence.

Odd given that the service in surrounding pubs is generally good (not Wetherspoons).

On my last visit, I noticed the beer we were being served from the barrel was a different beer (same brewery, weaker beer) from that advertised on the pump clips on the bar. Not a particular problem, we would still have been very happy drinking it - but the "so what?", "whats the problem" attitude of the barman and manager meant we went next door to the Alex.

Someone needs to apply a boot up the backside.
