The Swan Inn, Monks Eleigh

A real find! I don`t know if the owners like the term "Gastropub" but this is certainly one. Good Adnam`s beer and a reasonably priced wine list. But it is the food that is the winner. From a blackboard you can choose things like "Red Peppers with Pesto and Goat`s Cheese", "Baked Smoked Haddock with Buttered Spinach and soft Poached Egg" and, my favourite, "Meatballs in a chunky Tomato Sauce". A lovely atmosphere, good service and a pub chef who sees life beyond scampi and chips. A must-visit!
