THE GEORGE AT FINCHDEAN WAS HORRENDOUS!!!!
It was also my mother's birthday and we had a very similar experience to Mrs Vickers.
Our starters were OK, but the main courses, bar 2 out of the 7, were disgusting - unedible.
When we complained to the landlord, and said we didn't feel we ought to pay for the meals we couldn't eat at all, he threatened to call the police!! He told us we had to pay because there was nothing wrong with our food (he never even came to see our food at the table!).
No one checked or asked if our meal was OK throughtout the whole experience. We suspect this was because they knew it was far from OK. Not only was the food disgusting, but the order was almost completely wrong. Again, no apology.
Because of the disgraceful attitude of the landlord, whose customer service was dreadful, we paid for our meal, just so that we could leave the awful pub.
We asked for a receipt, was given it, and was told we were barred - all because we dared to complain!
We very often go out on a Sunday evening and have NEVER EVER had this experience before.
Do not go there if you want nice food, nice people and good customer service!
