The Flying Horse, Broadgate

Top marks to the Flying Horse for helping us, after another pub close by let us down badly. We'd booked a function room at this other pub but, when we arrived, it had been double booked - despite two visits from us beforehand to confirm it. I hurried over to the Flying Horse, asked if they could help us and they did! Their own function room was made available to us and twenty five thirsty, grateful people were well looked after by them. Can't praise them highly enough!

The Red Lion, Moorgate

Terrible on all counts. I arranged a private booking of the function room at this pub. I visited the pub a week before the event, a colleague visited a few days before the event. Everything was agreed: our group would have exclusive use of the function room for two hours. When we arrived, they weren't ready for us even though it was after the agreed time. Thge two people from another group showed up. We told them we'd hired the room for our group. they told us they'd hired it for their group. The room had been double booked and was far too small for both groups to use. The attitude of the staff in trying to resolve this problem was appalling. They did not apologise and did not offer any kind of solution. We ended up at the Flying Horse pub in Wilson Street, just up the road from this one. At no notice at all, they let us use their function room for free. We love the Flying Horse. The Red Lion showed a dismal lack of professionalism in every way. Avoid!
