The Ginger Fox, Albourne

We visited the Ginger Fox for the first - and probably the last - time in early September 2010. We had pre-lunch drinks sitting in the sunshine in the very agreeable garden. Then we moved inside for the meal. The front-of-house staff were courteous and efficient but their performance was not matched by their colleagues in the kitchen. The food was mediocre at best. Two of us had beef lasagne which resembled no lasagne we had ever tasted before. The beef mince was coagulated into unpleasant lumps, the lasagne pasta was meagre and tasteless, there was no bechamel sauce and the whole dish was swimming in excess liquid. In fact, we had to ask for spoons to cope with this travesty of a beef lasagne. The meals eaten by the other members of our party were not as bad as the lasagne but the portions were very small and the overall standard was disappointing for an establishment which describes itself as a "foodie pub." To sum up, we all concluded that this lunch represented very poor value for money.
