The Chequers, Watlington

THe landlord has a sarcastic streak and if you meet him on his own terms he is good company and very friendly. The beer is perfectly kept and the food excellent. I had a shared prawn platter starter which was very well cooked and presented, followed by an excellent and large portion of a lamb and mint pie and chips which was beautifully flavoured. Pudding a box made of chocolate with fruit coulis and chocolate mousse filling. Excellent and reasonably priced for the area. We will be going back again.
