Kings Head Hotel, Ravenstonedale

Attempted to visit this pub for Sunday lunch over the recent bank holiday. Pub looked nice enough from the outside so we parked up and went inside. Not being familiar with the establishment we attempted to have a little look round to see if there was a table available in the adjoining rooms.

A large man in a tight fitting nylon football shirt sitting at the bar then shouted at us in an agressive manner "Can I help you?", indicating that this was anything but his intention. We now undersood this to be the landlord and he followed this statement up with " You can't just go walking in there you know, there might not be a table set up".

He then thrust some menus at us and indicated that we should sit down opposite the bar. Somewhat stunned by his approach to paying customers we did so and discovered that the area smelt strongly of dogs and looked none too clean.

Two of our family members are deaf so we took a moment to explain to them that we weren't staying and then got up again. On seeing us leave he gave us a look of amazement that we should fail to want to take advantage of his stunning lack of hospitality he shouted after us "Suit youself then". We did. We went to the nearby Black Swan and it was lovely.
