The Britannia, Richmond

Lovely pub, shows sport, doesn't play music at a level where you have to shout in someone's ear to make yourself heard, the food is simple but very well done, good selection of beers and wines, comedy nights, friendly bar staff, beer garden.

It's not huge and impersonal, it's tucked away so when find find it you feel you've found a real gem. But this should save you the hard work. Give it a try!

The White Cross, Richmond

This is a great pub if you know the landlord, don't bother going if you don't.

Having drank in this place many times over the last five years or so, it was a massive shame that on a recent visit the landlord was in such a beligerent mood that saw us nearly barred for sitting in the wrong seat. A bit of an over reaction to a simple mistake. Though of course there was nothing on the table to indicate this reservation. What followed was general moaning about the number of people in there. Again a strange reaction for someone running a business.

The beer is okay, but not looked after brilliantly and there isn't the biggest choice from a brewery that produces so many different and great beers.

So basically, what could be the best pub in Richmond with a fantastic building in a brilliant location it is limited, and it makes it all the more heartbraking, because of the potential of this place going to waste because of the guy in charge.
