The last time I went with my family, the barstaff were pathologically unfriendly, the Martini optic was full of bar flies - which were duly served to me - and the other barmaid started picking at her something on her shoe.

It looks like it has the potential to be an average to OK pub, but my experience there was disgusting

Bartenders - I know the pay's terrible, I do it myself - so why the hell do you do it if you hate people so much?

Vauxhall Griffin, Vauxhall

Only just started up again, but the landlord seems highly motivated, friendly, and from my conversations with him he seems to have some great plans for the place. In the meantime, the place is kept spotless, the staff are friendly, and the nights I've been in have been steady and atmospheric. The juke box is getting better every time I go there, too. The Retro Bar, Strand

For a gay place, it's utterly lacking in pretention or sleaze, and as a result gets quite a mixed crowd. The barstaff are friendly as hell, and Wendy does a great job keeping the place going. And to the idiot who queers off about Justin Bond and the Scissor Sisters, are you the kind of person who sits there, bitterly not being a part of something because you love taking that sense of righteous bitterness to the internet?
