The Inn On The Lake, Godalming

I love this pub and have been coming here regularly for a couple of years. The staff are mainly Aussy, which is why you get a better service than from the usual angry repressed brit. The food is great and the beers are superb. The interior is recently refurbished, but the best part is in the summer just grabbing a table in the spacious garden. The trees at the end and the small hill bordering the garden seem to keep the kids distracted, so everyone is a winner. During winter months though the bar area just outside the restaurant with the high tables and stools is very social and way classier than the other pubs in the area. It is the only place in Godalming I will spend my money in.

The White Horse, Hascombe

I visited here in the summer with my young family. I had some overpriced, average food with some flat coke for my kids. When I approached the landlord (who was sat on a nearby table swearing with his mates) about the coke, he dismissed my complaint. Unfortunately this attitude still persists in UK pubs where poor service, and poor quality are the norm and anyone complaining is seen as a troublemaker. I will never go here again.

The White Hart, Hook

Average daggy British pub interior. Service acceptable, if not a little inexperienced. My lager tasted flat and had no head whatsoever. Asked for a burger without bacon - the bacon had been on the chicken and was removed - leaving the taste. Cook was behind the bar swearing openly in front of me (f word - not "food" though) while joking with colleagues. All a bit mediocre and run down really. Not the worst pub I have ever been to - but certainly in the top 10.
