The Sir John Barleycorn, Cadnam

We had a family meal at the Sir John last night, as my daughter is working in the area. It had the air of having been recently refurbished - including the smell of fresh paint in the Gents. I had a couple of good pints of 'Pride' and we had four different meals from the standard menu. It was all good, though not particularly cheap (all the mains we had were between 12 and 16 and the beer was 3.60/pint). Service was friendly and prompt. No problems.

The Waggon and Horses, Lymington

Ate in there this evening (Wednesday) with the family. The landlord was friendly and the food good; decent sized portions from the specials board, main meals between UKP9 and UKP14; a decent chunk of chocolate fudge pudding for UKP3.50.

It's worth noting that it doesn't open until 6 and food is available from 6.30. It wasn't busy, but it was a wet day just before the high tourist season.
