Royal Oak, Widcombe

Decided to give this pub a try instead of walking into the city centre while staying at the nearby Travelodge, and very glad I did. Bath is full of excellent pubs but I'd always given The Royal Oak a miss as the colour scheme outside looks like it might be a GK pub. Fortunately this is not the case - it is a superb, non-touristy, community local. The food is unpretentious pub grub and the Bath Ales Gem was in tip-top condition. So good in fact that I stayed on it all night and gave the other 4 or 5 beer a miss.
