The Old Dog, Herongate

Would love to eat here but you need to book first - according to their website - but you cannot book unless you have a phone without a withheld number and they do not respond to emails.... maybe one day I can get to try their food!!

The Dukes Head, Little Burstead

I had hoped to eat at The Old Dog Herongate but needing to book first and not having a telephone without a withheld number (strange rule of theirs) this was impossible. I did try emailing them but they never responded. We therefore opted to go to the Dukes Head at Little Burstead. What a lovely pub - not posh, not pretentious - just serving good honest food with a smile and at a very reasonable price. We had a lovely meal for three with dessert, wine and coffee for �45. I am so glad we could not get into The Old Dog after all - we have found a new favourite pub in the Dukes Head.
