Very nice new landlords; Howard and Wendy. Friendly and laid back atmosphere. Good music even if it's way too quiet. And first and foremost, very good beers. Excellent choice all the time and I've never had a bad one. Plus regular festivals. What more could you want? At the very least this has become one of the best pubs in Hitchin. It�s good to see it turned around so quickly.
I'll take the 'old farts' comments to mean that there are no lager louts. Which is true. There aren't. Whoopee!

The Chequers Inn, Woolmer Green
This is a really nice pub. Friendly young landlords and staff. Always a good selection of excellent beers in very good condition. They do top notch food and have a good sized garden area outside for the summer. Regular beer festivals. The bar music is a cut above the standard fare and they have bands on occasionally. Everything about it from the beer to the d�cor is a class act. Well worth checking out.
