The Brasshouse, Birmingham

A nice looking pub / bar. It is very unfortunate that this establishment is tarnished by the attitude of its manageress.
She should, at the very least, be sent on some kind of sensitivity / customer relations course.

As a group of 20+ people, we pre booked and reserved a room. We were told that when we were ready, food could be arrange. Yet when we were ready for food and tried to order some, we were told that we could not have any food, and would have to go elsewhere for food, but if we did so, the room we had booked would not be reserved.

As a compromise we decided to go looking for food in small groups, one leaving when the former group returned.

This is when the trouble began. When groups returned they were told by the manageress that they could not re-enter because they were wearing jeans, depsite the fact that 2 thirds of the pub were wearing jeans at the time.

After lengthy conversation, none of which was abusive or rude, we were given the choice of leaving or staying and leaving those who were outside, on their own. We of course chose to leave.

On leaving there were some choice words exchanged between the bouncers (defiantly bouncer mentality, who only became polite and "understanding" when they realised how many of us there were ) and the first couple of our group to leave the pub.

It is a strange coincidence, but perhaps only a coincidence that the manageresses dislike of us only manifested itself when one of the late comers, who happened to be disabled, arrived.

If customer relations and fair play are inportant to you, I would recomend you avoid this establishment.
