The Flapper, Birmingham

The Flapper has been my local for about 6 years now, and the main draw for me is the music - it's probably my favourite place to see a gig. Some of the finest rock & metal bands from Birmingham, the UK and abroad come to play here, with the highlight of the year being summer's 3 day "Off The Cuff" festival. Upstairs, locally-renowned DJ's play the coolest indie music - but they're not shy of some cheesy rock and the odd request either. There's also a large canalside beer garden to cool off in on a hot summer evening. The beer is cold, the crisps are crunchy, but the trump card at the Flapper is its amazing staff - not the cool, sullen type; these lot are friendly and warm, and will make you feel genuinely welcome every time. And the fancy-dress parties are epic.
