The Millers Inn, Wincanton

Lively local pub with B&B accomodation available. Clean and tidy saloon bar occupies the front of the building with a pool table and juke box annexed to the rear of the bar. There is a seprate function room at the rear of the premises and in addition there is also a sheltered smoking area on a newly-erected decking and patio area to the rear. Car-parking is good and access for disabled patrons is also good.

A range of lagers, ciders and bottles is available together with between 2 and 4 real ales normally being available, Ringwood Best, Doombar and 49-er being available at the moment. All are well-kept and tasty - I tried them all!!

The pub can be busy at times, especially at weekends, and can sometimes get a bit loud (it's a town pub after all) which may not be perfect for those looking for the quaint backwater pub for a pint, a comfy chair and some quiet to read the paper, but the atmosphere is generally very warm, welcoming and freindly.

Good food is always available and there is a separate dining area for you to enjoy your repast in peace.

The staff are polite, confident and efficient and really help in projecting a feeling of welcome to the pub. Even if you are just passing-though the town on your first-ever visit and even if you may not venture here again they do really make you feel as if you are a welcome guest in their own homes - a freind that they haven't seen for a while. That, to me, shows that they have a pride in their work and in their place of work - a very rare thing nowadays! There is also the pub dog - Bobby - a real big softy with a penchant for robbing and then chewing beer mats to death!

All-in-all a really nice town pub that provides all that I look-for in a pub - warm, freindly atmosphere, good beer, good food and polite, efficient and freindly staff. I'll definately be back, that's for sure!!
