The Flying Horse, Boughton Lees

Excellent village pub. Good food and beer. Good selection of proper brown beer, four types of yellow stuff as well as Guinness and draught cider. Menu is very good and the meals we had were excellent, very tasty and well presented.

We liked the friendly atmosphere. They have a log fire and a nice long bar to sit at. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

Plenty of room to sit outside looking onto the cricket green. It's worth finding out when the local team (Boughton Aluph) is playing at home - there was a fixture list in the pub. Alternatively there's a big back garden, which is really good for families with kids. One of the bars has two glass topped wells set in the brick floor, which are centuries old. In fact the whole building is lovely and old, just how you picture a country pub.

They seem to organise quite a few events. Last time we went they had signs for an Easter egg hunt for kids and a music quiz.

All in all, a top pub in my opinion. I've given it 10 because that's what it deserves.
